Comparison between Capri Berlin and Capri Valentina

The Capri Berlin and Capri Valentina touring bikes are two classic models, suitable for both urban and rural environments. Aesthetically, they are both wonderful, characterised by personality, elegance and pragmatism.

However, there are important differences between them that should be taken into account when choosing one or the other. In this article, we tell you about these particularities.

Differences between Capri Berlin and Capri Valentina bicycles

Different styles

The Capri Berlin is true to the Dutch style, while the Capri Valentina is true to the vintage style. Thus, in the first case, the frame is U-shaped and, in the second case, it is slightly inclined forward.

This is not only aesthetically obvious. It also has a decisive influence on the driving mode. In the Dutch style you will be more upright than in the vintage design.

Saddle

The Berlin has a sprung saddle upholstered in Italian leather, which is synthetic and very hard-wearing, from Victoria. In contrast, the Valentina’s proposal is a light brown textile.

Wheels

The Berlin’s rims are double-wall aluminium with 36 stainless steel spokes and high-quality hubs. They are rigid and durable for heavy urban and rural use.

The tyres are 28 inches in cream colour. On the other hand, on the retro style, the wheel diameter is 26 inches.

For the Berlin, you will have to buy ETRTO tyres (37-622) and for the Valentina ETRTO 590.

Frame

Both frames are made of steel. In the Berlin, the welds are high-quality TIG welds and the geometry is Nordic, Dutch-style. It is ideal for short journeys.

Pedals

The pedals of the Capri Berlin are made of aluminium coated with non-slip rubber and VP brand catadioptrics. The Valentina’s are made of plastic resin, non-slip with reflective reflectors.

Connecting rods

The Berlin model is made of aluminium with a 44-tooth steel chainring and 8 mm hexagon socket head cap screws. In the Valentina model, on the other hand, the cranks are made of steel with 42 teeth.

Speeds

Both have a Shimano derailleur system, so you are guaranteed quality and durability. On the Valentina model, however, it is single and six-speed. The Berlin model, on the other hand, has a seven-speed transmission. In this case, it is the Shimano Sis 7v Ty300 shifting system. It is a very robust and reliable classic.

Weight and measurements

Both are lightweight bicycles. The Capri Berlin weighs 15.9 kg, while the Capri Valentina weighs 15.2 kg. Most of its structure is made of high-quality, corrosion-resistant aluminium. Any of them is suitable for environments with high relative humidity.

In length, they vary slightly. Berlin is 175 cm and Valentina is 180 cm. They differ somewhat more in the maximum height they can reach, 120 cm for the Berlin and 105 cm for the Valentina. For this reason, if you are a tall person, the Berlin model may be more suitable for you.

The handlebar width is very similar, with only 3 cm difference.

Luggage rack

On the Dutch-style bike, the luggage rack is integrated, matching the control. However, in the Capri Valentina model it is an optional accessory. You can choose a compatible one in our Luggage Rack section.

Baskets

In both cases, they are optional, and we advise you to choose a compatible one from our Baskets and Boxes section. They are very useful for transporting objects or shopping. The baskets are positioned at the front of the handlebars and give the ensemble a romantic air as well as pragmatism.

The boxes can be attached to the rear luggage rack with an elastic strap. They are ideal if you have to carry a bit of weight, as they are more resistant.

Seatpost

This is the metal part that attaches the saddle to the bicycle frame. The seat post is inserted into the seat tube of the bicycle frame and is attached by means of a clamping mechanism. In the case of the Capri Berlin, this part is made of 25.4 mm aluminium. The Capri Valentina’s is made of one inch steel.

Grips

The Berlin bike grips are ergonomic and very comfortable. They are made of high quality rubber. In contrast, the Valentina’s are made of plastic resin.

Lights

Both the rear light and the front light on the Capri Berlin are LED and battery-operated. In addition, you can mount the front fork either on the handlebar fork head or on its side, on a brake mount. This way, it won’t get in the way of your basket.

The Valentina only comes with the back included. It is also LED and battery operated. In this case, it is essential that you buy the front light from our lights section.

Brakes

Both bikes use V-Brakes front and rear, synonymous with quality and reliability. While the Capri Valentina model uses one of the basic proposals, the Berlin model uses the aluminium Saccon.

Guarantees

All in all, both bikes are very good and highly recommended. However, the Capri Berlin offers more features and details than the Capri Valentina.
