Surfer Garazi Sanchez raffles off a Capri Berlin electric bike to drive change
Biscayan Garazi Sanchez is one of the best professional surfers in Spain. With an enviable track record, Garazi’s projection until 2019 had been unstoppable, achieving two Spanish surfing championships and a European runner-up, among many other victories.
In 2019 a severe spinal injury forced him to start almost from the beginning, putting even in doubt the chances of him being able to surf again. Three years after that injury (caused by an accident in the water) and after much effort and dedication, Garazi has returned to compete in the International Circuit, combining her passion for waves with a growing career as an ecological communicator.
A raffle of an ebike to reach more people
Although Garazi flees from labels, the truth is that in Biciclasica we believe that, along with the surfer, this is the one that best defines her: divulgator.
In fact, Garazi has just presented the second part of his acclaimed documentary “Vergüenza“, under the title “Quitando la Vergüenza”.
And the news is even better because he has chosen a Biciclasica electric bike, the new electric Capri Berlin, to help get his message out to many, many more people. If you hurry, you may still be able to participate in the giveaway on your Instagram!
At Biciclasica we are more than happy to support a documentary series that invites us to rethink our consumption habits and our relationship with nature. We believe that the bicycle is a machine of happiness and change and that the electric bicycle is helping to improve the way we move around the city, from commuting to work to mobility for leisure or small errands. The reality is that users of electric bikes prioritize it over other means of transport and use it more, and this is unbeatable news for our cities.
Ecological vocation
But where does Garazi’s interest in ecology come from? Although Garazi Sanchez has been linked to the ocean all her life, about four or five years ago, she realized how little she knew about this immense and delicate ecosystem. For her it was a kind of revelation and a radical change in the way she saw the world. He began a journey in search of knowledge that he ended up reflecting in “Shame“: a spectacularly recorded documentary that brought together the testimony of great disseminators to end up launching a new message of attention.
Garazi invited us to reimagine our relationship with the oceans then and has continued now with the release of the second part of the documentary, “Quitando la Vergüenza”, which has counted on Capri Bikes to get its message across to more people.
“Quitando la Vergüenza” is a series of several chapters in which Garazi explores the way we consume through interviews with different actors from different industries, from the textile industry, to the mobility or food industry, also inviting philosophers to join the debate to make us better understand the moment we live in.
We could go on and on about Garazi’s new work at length, but we think at this point it’s best if you take a look at his Instagram, enter the giveaway, and find out for yourself.
